“The London East Asia Film Festival aims to introduce the diversity of East Asian culture through film.

We want to engage with a wider audience through our inclusive, cross-cultural programming.

Showing films from all over East Asia will allow those interested in the region to understand

the distinction and nuanced individuality between different countries within East Asia.

We hope to show the growing collaboration between national film industries

and highlight the strength of contemporary Asian filmmaking on the world stage.

I invite you all to enjoy our eclectic mix of films, participate in workshops and seminars,

visit our exhibitions and even meet your favourite directors and actors.

Open your eyes to something new, and take a leap with LEAFF!

Thank you!

The 1st London East Asia Film Festival 2016 finally comes to an end.  During the 11-day festival, 40 films from South Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore were shown in cinemas across London, including 20 UK/European premieres. The festival succeeded to attract 1,300 audience members solely for the Opening Gala and five of our screenings and events were sold out. The festival also attracted wide media coverage including BBC, UK Chinese Times, Chinanews, Yonhap, Sino, and China Daily.

Without your generous contribution and support, our dreams and vision for the festival would have never come to reality. Words are inadequate to express how thankful I am. I believe the best way for me to show my gratitude and appreciation is to continue bringing the diversity and energy of East Asian cinemas to London. Hopefully, LEAFF will bring you more excitement, variety, and inspiration in 2017.

Please continue to support us in the future! Look forward to seeing you next year!

Sincerely,

Hyejung Jeon
